Old Dilapidated Truck Stop in Steele, Alabama

As a kid growing up in Alabama, I remember driving past this truck stop in Steele, Alabama on the way to our home in Birmingham, Alabama. It supposedly was a Pan Am station, although all I see on the facade says IMPS. I don’t recall if Interstate 59 was complete then. The only trucks I remembered were the old Cabover trucks, also known as COE (Cab Over Engine) and I would remember mostly Freightliners and Kenworth trucks. As a kid, I didn’t know anything about aerodynamics, but I knew a flat surface on the front probably wasn’t too aerodynamic. The truck stop is in a state of disrepair, but still, pleasant memories. #truckstop #kenworth #freightliner #freightlinertrucks #petroleum #gasstations #alabama
